During routine security screening at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2, on Monday, 4 December, Security Screening Officers Laurence Sulit and Arvin Garcia of the office for Transportation Security discovered an airsoft gun belonging to a passenger traveling to Tacloban.

The x-ray operator at the scene, SSO Sulit, noticed an image of a possible forbidden object that looked like a gun on the display. Subsequently, he confirmed the identity of the bag's owner and summoned SSO Garcia, the baggage inspector, to perform a hand inspection of the bag's contents.

There, he came across an airsoft gun belonging to Nouella Nambatac of Philippine Airlines Flight PR 2938. The illegal object was turned over to the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group for appropriate disposal, and the incident was documented by the OTS.

OTS officer-in-charge Jose A. Briones Jr. reminded passengers to check the list of prohibited items before their scheduled flight to avoid undue delay and inconvenience.
