A contingent of Philippine businessmen and diplomats has recently presented a recognition to Emirati Abdul Razagh 'Abu Nader' Mohammadi, a beloved figure in the United Arab Emirates, especially among the Filipino expat community whom he has treated as his beloved countrymen.
Called fondly by many as Abu Nader, he is Emirates International Holdings Group LLC's Chief Executive Officer and owner of Dubai's world-renowned Philippine Supermarket.
Founded in 2005, the Philippine Supermarket is the UAE's largest and most recognized supermarket chain that has been dedicated to introducing high-quality Filipino products to the UAE market.
It is said that more than 300,000 Filipinos experienced Abu Nader's benevolence, generous charity, and fatherly support.
Known for his deep humanitarianism and respect for diversity, Abu Nader provided groceries twice a month to a pregnant Filipina expat whose visa expired.
He also sponsored the lease of a hotel ballroom so that Filipinos could cast votes during the 2016 Philippine elections.
In his businesses, Abu Nader grants wages to Filipinos that are substantially above the minimum.
On the plaque given to Abu Nader, it is encrypted that "In heartfelt appreciation for your unwavering commitment, tireless effort, and boundless love and support towards the Filipino community in the United Arab Emirates. Your dedication has made a lasting impact, fostered unity, and strengthened bonds. Maraming salamat po!"
Earlier this year, Abu Nader revealed that he plans to build the UAE's first Filipino complex that is going to be a "one-stop-shop" for the community.
Nader said he envisions the multi-billion project to have an apartment complex, as well as an in-house hypermarket, a restaurant cluster, a massive retail section, as well as state-of-the-art entertainment venues, function halls, and sports arenas.
Further, he said that the project will also generate thousands of jobs for Filipino expats in the country.
