Elements of the Southern Police District (SPD) rescued eight persons and arrested two in a crackdown on human trafficking.
The meticulously planned entrapment operation by the SPD personnel targeted a wellness spa in Brgy. Pamplona Dos, Las Piñas City.
The operation resulted in the apprehension of two suspects and the rescue of eight female victims.
The joint operation, spearheaded by District Special Operations Unit (DSOU-SPD) in collaboration with the other operating units that included DSWD-NCR, resulted in the apprehension of alias Mary, who serves as the pimp/receptionist and alias Fred, the room security/maintenance of the establishment.
Acting swiftly on the received information, DSOU-SPD operatives, in coordination with representatives from DSWD-NCR, executed the entrapment operation.
The evidence seized during the operation sheds light on the alleged illicit activities being conducted within the spa premises which consists of a P500 bill that served as marked currency during the operation, while a previously used condom and three logbooks detailing therapist-customer interactions were discovered among the confiscated items.
A small plastic basin with a towel, a transparent plastic bin containing 20 individual boxes of condoms, calling cards bearing the name of the wellness spa, and a whiteboard displaying the aliases of therapists were seized. Further, evidence included photographs of the Business Permit/DTI/Tax Declaration bearing the name of the registered owner and identification cards of the arrested suspects.
Rescued female victims are now under the care of DSWD-NCR for evaluation and assessment.
The arrested suspects, rescued victims, and seized evidence have been transported to the Southern Police District for thorough documentation.
The registered owner of the spa managed to evade authorities and is considered at large.
