Rotary Club-San Juan lauds Tzu Chi’s eye care services

The Rotary Club of San Juan City, led by its president Francis Keith Peralta, recently visited the Tzu Chi Eye Center to turn over monetary donations to the charity organization.

Peralta, also a San Juan City 2nd District councilor, said he personally encouraged the club members to choose Tzu Chi Eye Center as a beneficiary after witnessing how the charitable eye care facility treated his constituents.

Earlier this year, Peralta had tied up with Tzu Chi to provide more efficient eye care services to disadvantaged patients from his district.

"Tzu Chi has helped many patients," Peralta said. "This is our little way of helping Tzu Chi so they can continue their programs."

The Club's past presidents, Jojo Bacarro and Jovie Sison, were also present during the turnover and were given a tour of the eye center.

"It's not just a simple facility," Bacarro observed. "The equipment here is even more up-to-date than most modern hospitals in the city.

I did not realize the magnitude of what Tzu Chi has been doing for the Filipinos until today. It was truly inspiring because, as a Rotarian, it is also our duty to help the less fortunate."

"I know what it costs to have your eyes checked and treated, and Tzu Chi is offering these [services] for free, so that in itself is very touching — [that] there is an organization like Tzu Chi who is taking care of less privileged patients' eyes," Sison added.
