Phl, US navies’ sea assets perform passing exercise in WPS

The Philippine Navy's BRP Conrado Yap (PS39) and the United States Navy's USS Gabrielle Giffords (LCS10) performed on Wednesday a passing exercise in the West Philippine Sea.

Armed Forces of the Philippines Public Affairs Office Chief, Col. Xerxes Trinidad said the exercise forms part of the 3-day maritime cooperative activity between the Philippines and the US.

"The two ships met and linked up last night west of Lubang Island and completed the exercises aimed at testing communications capabilities for real-life scenarios," Trinidad said.

The MCA demonstrates the commitment of the AFP and US Indo-Pacific Command to the Manila-Washington alliance as well as efforts to maintain regional stability and security in accordance with international law and the rules-based international order, he added.
