At least two of Philippine Air Force assets have participated in the ongoing Philippine-United States maritime air patrol or MARPAT activity held in the vicinity of Batanes and areas within the West Philippine Sea.

The MARPAT is part of the ongoing efforts of the Armed Forces of the Philippines to boost its interoperability with its US counterparts.

PAF spokesperson Col. Consuelo Castillo said the activity targets to enhance regional security in cooperation with its long-time allies.

The activity also coincides with the ongoing Maritime Cooperative Activity between the AFP and US Indo-Pacific Command, which will run until 23 November.

The MCA will be attended by the Philippine Navy and the US Navy while other PAF air assets will also be utilized during the ongoing joint maritime activity.

"The PAF remains committed to ensuring the readiness of its air assets to support the AFP's efforts in protecting our national territory and maritime interests as well as maintaining peace and security in the region," Castillo said.
