BALANGA CITY, Bataan — A student died while two others were seriously injured after a passenger bus rammed a transport terminal in this city on Monday evening.
According to the Balanga City Police Station, the casualty was identified as Jen Orviel Dinglasan Titolo, a 20-year-old male student from the Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) and a resident of Barangay Cabcaben in Mariveles.
The report stated that a passenger bus with plate number 030807 was parked at the Bataan Public Transport Terminal at SM City Bataan when it accelerated and rammed the passenger waiting area where the victim and a few other passengers were sitting.
Another passenger was injured in the accident, identified as Christopher Poblete, a 39-year-old male resident of Samal. The two victims were hit when the terminal wall collapsed.
The two were taken to the Bataan General Hospital in Balanga City where attending physician, Dr. Ryan Paul A. Pagdilao, declared Titolo dead on the spot, while Poblete is currently recovering from his injuries.
The police have taken into custody 57-year-old bus driver Cesar Flerio Abella Jr., a resident of Barangay Cabcaben in Mariveles.
The family of Titolo is grieving over the loss of the architecture student, citing that he was a kind-hearted soul.
The BPSU has released a statement regarding Titolo's death, citing that the future architect is a dedicated and enthusiastic student. "The memories and hard work will always be appreciated and we pray that you and your family will experience the kindness and mercy of our Lord during this terrible time," the statement added.
