BuCor, PCCR ink career placement pact

The Bureau of Corrections and the Philippine College of Criminology signed a memorandum of agreement on Friday aimed to collaborate on areas of mutual concern in the field of curriculum, faculty and student enhancement, career placement and research that will be beneficial to both parties.

BuCor director general Gregorio Catapang Jr. and PCCR president Ma. Angelica Lei G. Bautista signed agreement.

Under the agreement, Bucor will allow PCCR's students to take Internship at the agency and will consider PCCR's alumni for employment subject to their hiring policies and standards and slot vacancy and qualification of applicant while the BuCor will allow its employees to teach at PCCR on a part time basis as guest lecturer or visiting professors.

In the field of curriculum development, both agree to collaborate on the continuous development and improvement of PCCR's programs of study and relevant research projects that will improve the quality of Criminal Justice education.

PCCR — a pioneer school in the country and Southeast Asia, dedicated to Criminal Justice education — agrees to grant education discounts and provide scholarships to BuCor employees and/or their dependents in any of PCCR's Programs.

For persons deprived of liberty, the PCCR have special programs for them which include moral and spiritual program, health and welfare program that promote mental health, resilience, and emotional well-being for PDL and behavior modification program.

It also includes skill-building workshops aimed at developing practical life skills such as communications, problem-solving and decision-making.

The PCCR also agrees to offer Continuing Professional Development Program to employees or members of BuCor and for those who wish to pursue their higher education through Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program.

Aside from this, PCCR agrees to develop and deliver a comprehensive Cybersecurity Certification Program to BuCor employees that will cover essential cybersecurity concepts, practices, and industry-standard certifications.
