More OFWs to return home from Israel — DMW

The Department of Migrant Workers confirmed on Monday that at least two more batches of overseas Filipino workers from Israel are about to arrive in the country this week.

DMW Officer-in-Charge Hans Leo Cacdac said that the fifth batch of repatriates will arrive later this afternoon from Israel via Etihad Airways flight EY 424 at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 at 3:15 p.m.

Cacdac reported that the fifth batch of repatriates consists of 22 OFWs, including one infant. Nineteen of the OFWs are caregivers, while three are hotel workers.

Meanwhile, the remains of slain OFW Mary June Prodigo-Cabrera will be brought back by her sister Mary June Prodigo, who is among the latest group of returnees.

Mary Grace was one of four Filipino caregivers who died on 7 October, the first day of the attacks launched by Palestinian terrorist group Hamas.

DMW confirmed that the sixth batch, composed of 42 OFWs, is set to arrive tomorrow afternoon.

The return to the country of these two batches this week will bring to a total of 184 the number of OFWs who have come back to the Philippines from Israel.

DMW expects more returning OFWs as the conflict between Israel's Defense Forces and Hamas is unlikely to abate in the upcoming weeks.
