DA launches rice awareness month
The celebration this year is focused on mixing various nutritional food to rice, the importance of eating brown rice, the conservation of rice and lessening of food waste and supporting our local rice farmers
City of San Fernando, Pampanga — The Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 3 kicked off the opening of the 2023 National Rice Awareness Month at the Diosdado Macapagal Government Center, Maimpis on Monday.
Led by the Rice Banner Program, the opening was held during the flag raising ceremony and was followed by other activities by the employees of the DA RFO 3 as the agency plans to conduct various activities for the month of November.
The celebration of NRAM aims to raise awareness to the public the value of rice and lessen poverty and malnutrition in the country while ensuring a steady supply of rice for the country.
This year's theme is "Be RICEponsible" which calls upon every Filipino to help in achieving food security in the country by doing their part in saving food and will focus on mixing various nutritional food to rice, the importance of eating brown rice, the conservation of rice and lessening of food waste and supporting our local rice farmers.
The agency is also celebrating International Men's Month by giving special tokens to all male employees of the DA RFO 3.
According to the agency, these special tokens are given as part of acknowledging the hardships of the male employees of the DA RFO3. The celebration aims to honor these male workers for their dedication and hard work.
"The tokens are not just symbols of acknowledgement, but also valuing the contributions made by the men in the agricultural sector," the DA said.
