Remulla leads BuCor founding anniversary

Department of Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla and Bureau of Corrections director general Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr. are expected to lead other officials of the agency commemorating its 118th founding anniversary celebration with a week-long celebration starting today.

With the theme "Bagong BuCor sa Bagong Pilipinas," this year celebration, will start with a concelebrated mass, followed by flag raising ceremony, recognition of loyalty awardees for those who have been in the service for 40 years (13 personnel) and 30 years in service (163) and awarding of model employees and opening of bazaar showcasing crafts made by persons deprived of liberty.

The celebration will also feature a work of art done by artist Pete Jimenez to the confiscated contrabands inside the New Bilibid Prison.

To recall, upon assumption into office in 2022, Catapang confiscated more than six thousand contrabands from PDLs during various greyhound operations and these include bladed weapons, knives, homemade sharpen objects and the likes which were brought to Jimenez's studio.
