PBBM urges Filipinos to find joy in a ‘virtuous’ life on All Saints’ Day

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Wednesday urged Filipinos to honor the bravery of saints and the deceased as he joined the Catholic community to commemorate the season.

In his brief video message uploaded on Facebook, Marcos Jr. urged Filipinos to "(reflect) on everyone's purpose" in order to enjoy a meaningful Undas vacation this year.

"As we celebrate the saints' staunch devotion and the legacies of those who have gone before us, let us reflect on our purpose and our unceasing need for God's guidance," Marcos Jr. said.

"At the same time, let us remember the courage that our saints and dearly departed have shown amidst their plight so that we may be empowered to be bold in living with and for Christ no matter the difficulties that we face in this world," Marcos Jr. added.

The president said that the "examples of faith" shown by the deceased and "recognizing the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ" should serve as a reminder to live a moral life.

Marcos Jr. also said that the way Filipinos have celebrated All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day over the years has led to traditions that are only found in the Philippines.

"Our people's earnest obedience to this holy obligation throughout the centuries has given birth to the traditions that we carry to this very day, day-traditions that display the essence of the Filipino culture (is to) give utmost importance to our faith and family," Marcos Jr. said.

Marcos then urged the Filipinos to be inspired by the faith of their ancestors to enjoy the joy of living a good life here on earth and to believe in the promise of future life through Jesus Christ.
