CdO LGU: No overnight stay at cemeteries
At least 25 percent of more than 800 patients who died of the coronavirus disease were buried at the Bolonsori Public Cemetery in Barangay Camamanan since the pandemic broke out two years ago
The local government of Cagayan de Oro City recently imposed a visit schedule to public and private cemeteries in the city to ensure an orderly observance of All Souls' and All Saints' days in the city.
City Environment Officer and head of the Dead Cluster Office Engineer Alvin Cuenca said that policemen were deployed in public and private cemeteries while private security guards in private memorial parks screened people visiting the cemetery.
He added that the local government also deployed vehicles for free rides to the people visiting the city public cemetery in Bolonsori in Barangay Camamanan.
Aside from the curfew, liquor ban and prohibition of bringing bladed devices, cemeteries and memorial parks were also declared as "no smoking zones" during the observance of All Souls' and All Saints' days.
This is the second year the cemeteries in the city were opened to the public.

The rest were cremated in two private crematoriums in the city.
Earlier, the local government also implemented the closure of the public and private cemeteries from 29 October to 2 November during the Covid-19 lockdown to comply with the national directive in the closure of cemeteries on All Souls' and All Saints' days.
