Last week's Teacher's Day observed worldwide is a fitting honor for all the hardworking educators. Teaching children is not the only sacrifice teachers make. Their job sometimes risks abuse and harm at the hands of problematic students.

In Flint, Michigan, USA, a female teacher at Southwestern Classical Academy tried to pacify two girls in a shouting match inside the classroom last month. Another student recorded the scene, and the video posted on 28 September went viral.

The video showed one of the angry girls throwing a metal chair at the other girl. Instead, the chair struck the teacher in the head, knocking her down.

The school's resource officer was called in to break up the fight and found the teacher lying on the floor with head injuries, Flint Police Chief Terence Green told ABC 12, according to Fox News.

The teacher recovered from her injuries and was warmly welcomed by students and colleagues when she returned to work days later. The Genesee County Prosecutor's Office charged the 15-year-old chair thrower with two counts of felony assault.

In Northern Samar, the video of a teacher at Allen National High School also went viral for her heroism.

Rosalyn Doma helped her 19-year-old student finish her desk activity by holding her sleeping baby, GMA News "Unang Balita" reported.

The student brought her one-year-old daughter to class because no one could take care of her at home. Doma noticed the student struggling with her activity while carrying her baby, so she volunteered to carry her temporarily.

Netizens who saw the video were touched by the teacher's gesture, calling it heroic and selfless.

Doma, herself a mom, said she was happy that the student with a baby was determined to study despite her difficult situation, so she helped her.

The teacher said students should give importance to their education as it will be the foundation of their future.
