Gilas Youth defeats Korea in playoff for first time; reaches quarterfinal

Joaquin Gabriel Ludovice erupted for 25 points as Gilas Youth finally defeated South Korea, 95-71, in the playoff game for the first time in the FIBA U16 Al-Gharafa Sports Club Multi-Purpose Hall in Doha Friday morning.

Ludovice tied the tournament record of seven three-pointers as the Philippines inches closer to the coveted FIBA U17 World Cup slot.

Bonn Daja got a double-double game of 13 points and 11 rebounds while Kieffer Alas got a double-double of his own with 11 points and 13 rebounds.

The Philippines is set to face Japan in the quarterfinal on Saturday, 23 September, at 12:30 a.m. at the same venue.
