KOICA seeks Samar schools improvement

STA. RITA, Samar — The Korean government, through the Korean International Cooperation Agency, is eyeing to undertake a program to enhance the learning environment in 10 schools in Samar.

The Safe Schools Program in Samar — implemented in partnership with the international nongovernment agency World Vision, the Department of Education and the local government units — includes construction of school buildings and provision of learning materials as well as sanitation facilities.

KOICA country director Eunsub Kim said the program aims to help the government meet them United Nations Sustainable Goals on education.
"Koica is committed in helping provide a quality education for the Filipinos," Kim said.

On Wednesday, KOICA and World Vision turned over a one-classroom building in San Pascual Elementary School in Sta. Rita town and school principal Amalia Calamaya said the school building will serve 33 learners who are enrolled in Grades 1 and 2.
