The Rotary Club of Makati, to concretize its resolute determination in raising awareness about breast and cervical cancer and manifest its commitment to improving women's health in general, conducted a two-day medical mission in Navotas and Las Piñas over the weekend.

The missions represent the second and third of such endeavors aimed at offering essential cancer screening procedures for women in need that were implemented by the Club since July of this year.

On Friday, 8 September, the mission, conducted in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Navotas, was hosted by Navotas City. The following day, 9 September, a second mission, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Las Piñas East was held at St. Mark Institute.

In all, these events benefited a total of 200 women who were provided with access to crucial cancer screening services.

Collaborative effort

The Navotas City and Las Piñas missions were carried out in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Makati Premier District and the Philippine Cancer Society.

The presence of notable figures underscored the significance of these missions. In Navotas, past president Cesar Campos and his son Gene, alongside President Roldan Araga, were present to show support for the mission.

Meanwhile, in Las Piñas, the mission welcomed RC Makati president Bing Matoto, president Nominee Eddie Galvez, past president Campos, and Rotarian Boy Arteche.

With these latest cancer screening missions, a total of 300 women have been screened by the Rotary year.

These screening efforts are being made possible through mobile screening facilities provided by the Philippine Cancer Society with funding by a Global Grant co-sponsored by RC Makati.
