Barefield chooses P.League+ over PBA, signs up with Fubon Braves

Looks like top prospect Sedrick Barefield is once again foregoing his plans to join the Philippine Basketball Association this season.

Instead, he is headed to the P.League+ in Taiwan with the Fubon Braves where he will team up with former PBA import, Mike Singletary.

The announcement was made by Intrusive Sports, an international sports agency that handles Barefield.

Barefield, a 6-foot-2 guard who played for the Oklahoma Blue, an affiliate of the National Basketball Association team Oklahoma Thunder in the G League, was supposed to join the PBA as early as a few years ago at the height of the pandemic, but couldn't secure the documents that would make him eligible for the draft.

He was expected to join the coming Rookie Draft this September and looms as the projected top overall pick, but instead found himself inking a deal with the Braves, a three-time defending champion, which established a dynasty in the  P.League+.

Just recently, Barefield also saw action for the Bay Area Dragons in the East Asia Super League Champions' Week.
