Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula reminded the Filipino Catholic faithful of the spiritual lessons on the birth of Jesus Christ, as Christians in the country and across the globe celebrate Christmas Day.

In his Christmas message, Advincula said that the Filipino Catholic faithful should be observant of the current situation and reality in our society, show openness to others and practice eagerness in anticipating for the birth of the Lord and the duties of Christians.

"Christmas nowadays comes with so much rushing. Let us rush, not for the consumption and entertainment that the world allures us to, but for mission and encounter with the Lord," Advincula said.

"The incarnation, in fact, is the supreme avowal of God's love for us. His birth that we commemorate tonight is but the beginning of the whole life that fully reveals the breadth, length, height, and depth of such love in a manner that we can comprehend," he added.
