The Philippine Postal Corporation issued stamps, souvenirs, sheets, and official first-day covers for this year's Christmas season.
PHLPost feted how Filipinos look forward to Christmas every year not only as a commemoration for those of the Catholic faith but as a special gathering of families during holidays.
Hence, the PHLPost released stamps focused on the theme "Unity, Faith and Prosperity" noting that these three words are the hopes of all Filipinos, especially during Christmas time.
"The issuance shows unity transcending societal gaps, faith bringing kindness and fellowship, and prosperity springing from cooperation and compassion for one another," it further stated.
The stamp features a family in the city — giving candies and toys to kids below; a family in the province — peering outside the capiz shell windows characteristic of their bahay na bato as the children share a handmade parol and some pancit sa bilao; as well as an example of the commonplaceextended Filipino family in the suburbs and an example of how multiple generations make a loving home under one roof.
PHLPost said the "Unity, Faith and Prosperity" theme is likewise embedded in four stamp designs, along with other values we can emulate this season: Childlike enthusiasm in giving and receiving, sharing without recompense, and most importantly, malasakit and bayanihan.
The Post Office said it has printed 40,000 copies per design and 400 copies of official first-day covers In-house Post Office graphic artists Agnes C. Rarangol, Ryman Dominic Albuladora, Eunice Beatrix U. Dabu, and Israel A. Viyo did the layout of the stamps.
Stamps, souvenir sheets, and official first-day covers are available at the Philatelic Counter of the Manila Central Post Office in Liwasang Bonifacio.
