A magnitude 5.3 earthquake struck Tinaga Island, Camarines Norte at 1:05 p.m. on Wednesday, 7 December, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.
Phivolcs said the epicenter of the earthquake was 19 km N 62º E of Tinaga Island (Vinzons), but that Intensity II was felt in Quezon City as the quake also shook areas in Luzon and the Visayas.
Damage is not expected though aftershocks may occur, added Phivolcs.
