Venezuela's El Grito International Fantastic Film Festival has chosen Coleen Garcia as Best Actress for the suspense-thriller movie Kaluskos.

"Thank you so much to the jury for selecting me. I am so honored!" Garcia wrote on Instagram on 3 December.

In Kaluskos, Garcia plays Rebekah, a mother who fights for custody of her daughter Amaya (Queenzy Calma). Amid a legal battle with her estranged husband Jay (Karl Medina), Rebekah discovers another Amaya under her bed.

Things get worse when this Amaya claims she's Rebekah's real daughter and the victim of a curse. Rebekah plots to set her free, but first needs to kill the impostor.

Kaluskos is written by Enrique Villasis and directed by Roman Perez Jr. It was one of the entries in the 2022 Cinemalaya Film Festival. The cast includes Cara Gonzales and Elora Españo.

"I learned a lot from this project, and working on it reminded me why I love what I do! Thank you, Lord, for carrying me through all of it," Garcia said.

Garcia and husband Billy Crawford were recently in France for the latter's stint in the dance competition Danse avec le Stars, the French edition of the British show Strictly Come Dancing. He and dance partner Fauve Hautot won first place.

The El Grito International Fantastic Film Festival jury consists of Insolito Festival director Lina Duran, producer and director Hernan Moyano, and Fantasmagoria Festival director Cristian Jaramillo.
