The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority over the weekend opened the second site in Malabon City that had been made part of its of Adopt-A-Park program.

The Malabon People's Park in Barangay Catmon covers more than 3,200 square meters and boasts colorful water fountains, a playground with equipment kids would enjoy, comfort rooms and green landscaping.

"The agency rehabilitated the area to be enjoyed by more residents of the city, especially kids," MMDA acting chairman Romando Artes said.

"We hope the people of Malabon will take good care of the park that has been developed for them. Through this park, we can give our children a space to play safely," he added.

Malabon Mayor Jeannie Sandoval thanked the MMDA as she underscored the importance of cities having green spaces, especially during the pandemic when healthy living is a must to build up people's resistance against diseases.

The rehabilitated second park is bigger and wider than the Hulong Duhat Plaza, the first MMDA Adopt-A-Park site in Malabon unveiled last 8 September.

The MMDA parks program is intended to help fight urban decay and global warming through green spaces. Under the scheme, the local government unit proposes the location, design and cost estimate for a park project to be funded by the MMDA.
