PAGASA: Two storms to enter PAR this December, may become super typhoons

The state weather bureau said it does not discount the possibility that two tropical cyclones expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility this month may reach typhoon and super typhoon categories.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration said the tropical cyclones are likely to make landfall. Once in the PAR, they will be named "Rosal" and "Samuel", and are expected to become strong typhoons.

PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja said there is no expected low-pressure area until the weekend. However, the shear line will continue to bring scattered rains and thunderstorms over the eastern part of the country, particularly in Camarines Norte and the northern portion of Quezon, this weekend.

The rest of the country will experience isolated passing light rains until Sunday, while the intertropical convergence zone will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over the Visayas and Mindanao from Monday to Tuesday next week.
