"Remember my name, I'm gonna live forever," Irene Cara sang in the title track of the 1980 musical film 'Fame.'
Cara, a professional stage actor who starred as an aspiring performing artist in 'Fame,' died on 26 November, her publicist Judith A. Moose posted on Twitter.
Cara was 63.
"Her cause of death is currently unknown and will be released when information is available," said Moose.
Cara sang and co-wrote the song "Flashdance… What a Feeling" from the film "Flashdance," for which she won an Academy Award for Best Original Song and a Grammy for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance in 1984.
