CHR joins National Environmental Awareness Month

The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) joins in the celebration of the National Environmental Awareness Month with the theme, "Rise Up: Moving Beyond Climate Talk to Climate Action."

It calls on local leaders and lawmakers for the creation of legally binding instruments to strengthen the implementation of the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and provide redress mechanisms for victims of climate change impacts.

The commission also hopes for legal protection of environmental defenders and climate activists as they amplify climate awareness and education.
