Bong Go helps typhoon Paeng victims in Pigcawayan and Aleosan, North Cotabato

Following the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm Paeng, Sen. Bong Go had his team distribute assistance to more typhoon victims in the province of North Cotabato from the towns of Pigcawayan and Aleosan on Wednesday, 2 November.

"Sisikapin ko po na makatulong sa abot ng aking makakaya at magbigay ng suporta tungo sa pagbangon ng mga komunidad na naapektuhan ng Bagyong Paeng at iba pang sakuna," Go assured.

"Patuloy akong nakikipag-ugnayan sa ating mga government agencies at mga local government units para tulungan silang maproteksyunan at maalagaan ang ating kawawang mga kababayan," he added.

Go reiterated that he remains dedicated to push for the passage of Senate Bill No. 188, otherwise known as the Department of Disaster Resilience Act, as he underscores the importance of establishing a dedicated department that will ensure a more proactive approach to addressing natural disasters.

The DDR will develop a focused, streamlined, and more efficient way of dealing with disaster preparedness and response as well as relief, recovery and rehabilitation — functions which are presently scattered across various departments and offices.

"Bago dumating ang bagyo, preposition of goods, coordination with LGUs, dapat dalhin ang ating mga kababayan sa mga safe na lugar. At pag-alis ng bagyo, restoration of normalcy agad," Go said.

"Rehabilitation, para makabalik agad sa normal na pamumuhay ang ating mga kababayan na tinamaan ng bagyo," he added.

Go's team mounted the relief efforts at the respective barangay halls of Bulucaon, Balogo, and Kimarayag in Pigcawayan as well as at the Barangay Poblacion Hall in Aleosan where they provided grocery packs, shirts, umbrellas, and basketballs to 600 typhoon victims.

"Nagpadala po tayo ng food packs, mga damit, at payong sa mga nasalantang residente. Nagbigay rin ako ng mga bola sa mga bata para mailayo sila pansamantala sa trauma na sinapit dulot ng bagyo," he explained.

On the same day, Go's team likewise provided similar aid to more typhoon victims in the province of Maguindanao and Zamboanga City.
