The Department of Public Works and Highways and its regional offices are continuing their repair and rehabilitation efforts on national roads and regional thoroughfares following the onslaught of severe tropical storm "Paeng."

According to the latest reports by the DPWH on Monday, 44 road portions were still inaccessible to motorists due to landslides, erosions, flooding, fallen trees, and damaged bridges.

It said 23 of the road portions are in Luzon, while 15 are in the Visayas and six in Mindanao.

The DPWH has managed to reduce the number of road closures in the country brought about by the recent storm, it claimed.

The department reported 60 road closures across the country Sunday morning, with four additional road closures reported at noon on Monday.

A total 272 of the agency's 1,202 equipment and 2,899 of 7,400 staff across the nation had been deployed in five regions in Luzon, two in Visayas and one in Mindanao.
