Jema Galanza powered Creamline to a 25-18, 22-25, 25-22, 25-12, victory over Cignal to take a share of the lead in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at the Sta. Rosa Sports Complex in Laguna on Saturday.
The outside spiker went into attacking mode as she unleashed 14 spikes in her 17-point outing in front of a 5,521-strong crowd present to witness the Cool Smashers claim their third straight win to join idle Chery Tiggo on top of the leaderboard.
"I'm very happy about the win. Cignal gave us a tough fight and a great game," Galanza, who had 17 digs, said.
The HD Spikers threatened to turn the match around in the third set after coming back from a five-point deficit and came close, 22-23, only to commit let Creamline slip away with costly miscues.
It was all Cool Smashers in the fourth frame as they built a double-digit separation on their way to closing the two-hour match.
"Thankfully we recovered from that loss in the second set. The team responded well to the challenge," Creamliune coach Sherwin Meneses said.
Turkish Yeliz Basa registered 14 points for the Cool Smashers, Jeanette Panaga had nine markers while Ced Domingo and Alyssa Valdez added eight points each.
Valdez, who in the first two games of Creamline posted a pair of triple-double, had 16 excellent receptions.
Cignal dropped its second straight game despite the 20-point effort of American import Tai Bierria.
Roselyn Doria had eight points while Rachel Anne Daquis got seven for the HD Spikers.
