Senator Risa Hontiveros on Friday said at least 20 websites known for spreading child sexual abuse and exploitation materials on the internet have been blocked by the National Bureau of Investigation with the help of the telecommunications company PLDT.

Hontiveros, who authored the Republic Act 11930 or the Anti-Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children, lauded the efforts of the NBI and PLDT.

"Because of their immediate actions, in compliance with the Anti-Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Law, which I authored, the proliferation of platforms abusing our youth was prevented," she wrote on Facebook.

In a letter dated 13 October to NBI Director Menardo de Lemos, PLDT FVP and Group Chief Information Security Officer Angel Redoble informed him that they have already implemented the blocking of the listed URLs.

Redoble is referring to the listed URLs submitted by the NBI to them for immediate blocking last 13 September.

The PLDT said upon receipt of the letter, they have implemented the blocking of the URLs, however,  it noted that preserving digital evidence was not possible since the telco did not own the servers involved.
