Hound illegal POGOs, Boying urges NBI

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin "Boying" Remulla has ordered the National Bureau of Investigation to run after Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators operating illegally.

The NBI last July was ordered to suspend all its operations against POGOs. Remulla explained they stopped the NBI operations against POGO because no one was filing cases.

"So, we had to stop it," stressed Remulla who also said previous operations were just a waste of government time and resources.

Remulla, however, said with the crimes being associated with illegal POGOs, the government will have to go hard on them, especially those engaged in criminal activities.

"Hopefully by the end of this month or first week of October we will begin," he said of the plan to deport 300 workers from dismantled illegal POGO operations.

He said he has already started talks with Chinese Embassy officials on the deportation efforts of the government regarding their overstaying citizens now being held by the Bureau of Immigration.
