In preparation for the coming holidays, the Bureau of Customs at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport held a coordination meeting with its partner customs facility and warehouse operators.
Carmelita Talusan,

BoC-NAIA district collector, said the Port of NAIA is ready for the Christmas holiday and has already in place proactive measures to address anticipated issues and concerns, including but not limited to implementing extended working hours, 24/7 x-ray examinations, regular K-9 sweeping, and expedited clearances to avoid delays.

Last 13 September, Talusan met with officials of DHL to discuss arrangements for the expeditious release of high volumes of small parcels coming this "Ber" season.

DHL Express Philippines country manager Nigel Lockett, head of operations Promod George, Customs Clearance manager Cecilia Paras and other BoC-NAIA officers attended the meeting.

DHL assured it is reviewing its roster to add more personnel and will be continuously coordinating with BoC-NAIA for the prompt and immediate processing and release of gift imports from abroad.

Talusan said the bureau will continue to be vigilant and committed to ensuring trade facilitation and implementing border protection initiatives against unsafe, dangerous, prohibited and unregistered goods.
