The Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity officially launched its Conflict Sensitivity and Peace Promotion guidebook for government communicators this week.
OPAPRU Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. cited the crucial role of public communication officers in helping the government achieve its goal of lasting peace in the country.
The guidebook, he said, will expand the awareness of communicators of various government agencies on how to apply conflict sensitivity in their workplaces.
"This will prevent provocative and abrasive statements that can create conflicts and divide the people," he added.
Galvez said the guidebook will help information officers embrace social healing, mutual understanding, peace, reconciliation and unity.
"One of our goals in the peace process is to have effective communication strategies so we can convey that we want to acquire lasting peace for the sake of Filipinos, especially within this administration," he said.
The guidebook was produced by OPAPRU's Communications and Public Affairs Section. Galvez said the guidebook shall also combat misinformation and disinformation.
After sending enough copies to all government line agencies, Galvez bared that OPAPRU is eyeing to also distribute guidebooks to various academic institutions while conducting CSPP seminars for students.
"It can be some sort of a capstone for what we should do in order to convey a very diplomatic and very useful message," Galvez said.
