Benavides says the band was formed when the 2016-2017 seasons first gathered together instrumentalists and later on top vocalists led by Rangel and Manly

Music Hero's performances have endeared them to their fans.

The millennial group Music Hero came to Tribune Now’s “Friday Mixer” to promote their latest single “LDR (Laging Di Randam)” which is about emotional distance in relationships.

But in taking the InterMix Challenge, the seven members of Music Hero, finalists all in the first and second seasons of Eat Bulaga’s talent search with the same title as the band’s name, learned that distance is not always the only challenge.

In playing “pass the word,” vocalists Manly Ocampo and Rangel Fernandez, lead guitarist Fender Dimalanta, drummer Joaquin Rodrigo, bass player RD Benavides, Brian Feliciano on sax and keyboard and violinist Dominique Casacop were confronted, albeit in a fun way, by the reality that words can get in the way.

With yours truly whispering the words “paramdam mo,” then “paramdam ko” and finally “ang kapara-paramdam,” MH’s members realized that even among people in close proximity with one another, signals and messages can and do get mixed.

Still, when singing their best songs so far in FriMix, the group members were all in harmony in making good music together, showing why they ended up as the crème dela crème of the EB show.

The bassist adds that while they have different musical heroes, they share a liking for South Border and fusion, influences that are apparent in their songs.

Asking them on their songwriting process, Rangel explains that there’s no set formula and that songs are written first as lyrics or as music and vice versa.

“If we have some good lines then we try to compose a suitable melody. A good melody, on the other hand, will get tossed around for ideas and eventually lyrics,” she points out.

However, the young members of Music Hero come up with their songs, and the depth of their musicality and their performances have endeared them to their fans. And they’re seemingly just having fun.
