Firecracker ban intensifies

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) on Monday revealed that it is already working closely with communities to enhance response to fire incidents this holiday season.

In a statement, BFP spokesperson Geranndie Agonos said that 195 cities and municipalities across the country have already enforced a firecracker ban and stressed that they already have various community initiatives to ensure the safety of the public as they welcome the New Year.

Agonos added that they have established Community Fire Auxilliary Groups that will help firemen respond to accidents, noting that under the “Oplan Ligtas na Pamayanan,” residents can inform the BFP of hazards in their neighborhood.

He also reminded the public to exercise caution when purchasing firecrackers and assured the public that the BFP is on Code Red, meaning all firefighters are ready to respond in case of mishaps, from 23 December 2019 until 2 January 2020.
