Drunk man kills half-brother

Just like Abel in the Bible, a 38-year-old construction was stabbed in the chest by his half-brother who was retaliating in self-defense in a drunken fight that turned ugly last Saturday afternoon.

Police identified the victim as Noel Tawasil, alias “Balat,” of Daganan Street, Leveriza in Malate, Manila, while his assailant was named as Andy Arcega Tawasil, 33, resident of the same address.

Based on the report of P/Cpl. Allan Lingcong, Andy and his wife Czarina were watching the television in their room when they heard stones and bottles being thrown at their house.

When Czarina opened the door, her drunk brother-in-law rushed inside and headed to their room. Noel took a broken bottle of beer and used it to bang the door.

When Andy opened the door, Noel proceeded to attack him.

The suspect managed to push aside his brother and with a piece of broken glass stabbed him in the chest in self-defense.

A barangay kagawad helped in bringing the wounded Noel to Ospital ng Maynila where he was pronounced dead at 5:21 p.m.

Andy was brought to the same hospital for treatment, before being taken to the Manila Police District station where he is now detained.
