4 new POLO named

The Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) disclosed Friday that four more Philippine Overseas Labor Offices (POLO) were added this year.

According to Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III, the new POLO are in Los Angeles, USA; Berlin, Germany; Wellington, New Zealand and Osaka, Japan.

With the additional labor offices, Bello expects that better service will be provided for the overseas Filipino workers (OFW).

“And so as we may be able to more efficiently serve our OFW, we opened four new Philippine Overseas Labor Office,” Bello said.

To date, there were a total of 40 POLO across the globe located in various parts of Asia, Middle East, Europe and in the Americas.

In line, Bello also reported that the POLO have already provided on-site assistance to almost 2.3 million Filipinos overseas for this year.

“This included training, case management, custodial services, repatriation and other welfare assistance,” he said.

POLO is an office under the Office of the Secretary of Labor that acts as the operating arm of DoLE for the administration and enforcement of its policies and programs for OFW.
