Libya exodus of Pinoys continues

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Friday it has repatriated from Libya the 13th batch of overseas Filipino workers (OFW), composed of five adults and two minors, as fighting continues to rage in the outskirts of Tripoli.

“This brings to 149 the total number of Filipinos from Tripoli and surrounding areas who were assisted by the DFA and the Department of Labor and Employment in returning to the Philippines since April,” the DFA said.

Embassy Chargè d’Affaires Elmer G. Cato said the repatriates will be flown to Tunis from where they will take their connecting flight to Manila via Doha. C

ato reiterated the Embassy’s appeal for Filipinos staying in danger areas to relocate as soon as possible in anticipation of further escalation of hostilities.

More than 1,000 Filipinos mostly working in the medical field are still in Tripoli and surrounding areas that had been placed under Alert Level IV seven months ago.
