PDEA in P802-million pre-Christmas shabu haul

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on Tuesday reported the arrest of a Chinese national in Quezon City and the seizure of P820-million worth of shabu from him.

PDEA-NCR director III Joel Plaza named the Chinese suspect as 30-year-old Zhang Yun Quan, alias Francis, who fell in a big-time drug buy-bust operation in Barangay Sienna.

Zhang was put under surveillance for two weeks in his apartment which also served as his drug warehouse.

The Chinese was initially nabbed with about two kilos of shabu worth P13.6 million, but 116 packs more of shabu hidden in teabags worth P788 millon were found in his apartment in Tabayoc Street in the same barangay.

Zhang was charged with violation of Section 5 (Sale of Illegal Drugs) and Section 11 (Illegal Possession of Dangerous Drugs) of Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the law against the sale and possession of narcotics.
