Go: Next PNP chief must be ‘most honest one

President Rodrigo Duterte is still studying his choices for the next Philippine National Police chief with only 10 days left before the new year.

The President’s focus, though, is more trained on addressing the illegal drug problem and criminality in the country instead of appointing the replacement of Oscar Albayalde.

Albayalde retired on 8 November after reaching the mandatory age of 56 years old and a 37-year government service.

Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong�? Go said there are several candidates qualified to replace Albayalde, but the President is looking not only for the best, but the most honest one.

“As far as I know, most likely wala pa po. Sabi niya diyan muna, hayaan mo muna ‘yung ganung set-up, mag-trabaho muna silang lahat at ipakita nila lahat ang kampanya laban sa droga, sugpuin ang kriminalidad,�? said Go.

Lt. Gen. Archie Gamboa currently leads the PNP as officer-in-charge.

“Magagaling naman po lahat ng kandidato halos lahat naman po ay qualified. Talagang hirap ang Pangulo. Hinahanap niya ‘yung almost perfect, honest. Bagama’t huli ka sa klase, ang hinahanap niya ay honest,�? added Go.
