Troops honor Clement

The Philippine Army (PA) held a testimonial parade and review in honor of outgoing Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff, Gen. Noel Clement at the ROTC Hunters Parade Ground on Wednesday in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.

It was led by PA chief Lt. Gen. Gilbert Gapay who lauded Clement’s 39 years of service and highlighted his commandership roles from battalion to Chief-of-Staff level “that greatly contributed to the overall success of the Filipino forces’ mandate.”

Clement, who became the AFP’s 52nd chief and set to retire from the military on 6 January 2020, was also praised by Gapay for being an officer “known to lead by example and is also a father figure to many for he always prioritized the welfare of his people,” Gapay said.

In response, Clement reminded the soldiers to never underestimate or undervalue their contribution to the nation.

“Your work is important to the Army’s mission,” said Clement as he addresses the troops as for the last time. “Remember our duty to put God, country, and people above ourselves,” added Clement as he also extended his gratitude to the command and his family.

“I have full trust that as I will be leaving my post, the men and women of the Philippine Army are always dependable, capable, and bearers of the brand of excellence that a world-class Armed Forces possesses,” he concluded.
