Jackson, Ravens make Pro Bowl

NEW YORK (AFP) — Baltimore quarterback Lamar Jackson, the National Football League’s (NFL) season touchdown pass leader and a record-setting rusher, was among a league-best 12 Ravens players announced Tuesday as selections for next month’s Pro Bowl.

The Ravens own the NFL’s best record at 12-2 with a 10-game win streak and a major reason is Jackson, who broke Michael Vick’s one-season quarterback rushing record last week and tops the league with 33 touchdown passes.

Jackson, a 22-year-old signal caller in his second NFL campaign, has run for 1,103 yards on 159 carries and completed 245 of 370 passes (66.2 percent) for 2,889 yards to power the Ravens attack.

Player, fan and coaches votes are compiled to determine the all-star game talent that will play 26 January in Orlando, Florida.

Jackson led fan voting with 704,699 but he hopes not to play in the game. Players whose teams are involved in Super Bowl 54 on 2 February at Miami will not participate in the Pro Bowl.

Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson was second in fan voting followed by Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Other Ravens selected include running back Mark Ingram, safety Earl Thomas and kicker Justin Tucker.

The New Orleans Saints led all National Conference clubs with seven selections, including quarterback Drew Brees, who became the NFL all-time touchdown pass leader, and NFL receptions leader Michael Thomas.
