Bato to ask US embassy on visa cancellation

Senator Ronald dela Rosa will write a letter to the United States (US) Embassy to inquire about the reported cancellation of his visa.

In an interview, Dela Rosa said that he was not officially informed about the revocation of his visa but he will ask the US Embassy on the official status of his alleged ban from US.

He said that few policemen who were “loyal” to him have alreafy informed him before that the embassy has revoked his access to US.

“(To know) officially, maybe I’ll send them a letter,” he said.

A report from Politiko claimed that Dela Rosa’s visa was cancelled since May after the state imposed restrictions on human rights violators in accordance with the Asia Reassurance Initiative Act.

He was reportedly banned due to his involvement in the alleged extrajudicial killing of drug suspects during his time as chief of Philippine National Police.

This, however, was refuted by Dela Rosa leaving a rhetorical question: “Did I order to kill them?”

“If that is true… they are misinformed, misled by their informants. Did I encourage to kill the drug suspects? Am I the one who ordered to kill? Did I cover up the misdeeds of other policemen? You can answer that.”

But Dela Rosa believed that the visa granted by the US Embassy is a privilege and not a right.
