Briefs: SM Appliance Center renews partnership with Mober

The country’s largest appliance store chain, SM Appliance Center, has renewed its partnership with the country’s first on-demand logistics platform Mober, as same-day deliveries demand surge in Greater Manila and other key locations, ahead of the Christmas holidays.

“We’ve seen customer satisfaction rise ever since we made Mober’s same-day delivery service available for our clients,” said Chito Mendoza, SM Appliance Center Vice President for Operations. “From our experience, it’s been especially helpful for busy professionals and young families.”

SM Appliance and Mober first launched the same-day delivery service to customers in December 2016. As of year-to-date, seven out of 10 of SM Appliance customers now avail of Mober’s same-day deliveries. Previously, customers would have to wait from 36 to 72 hours since time of purchase for their item to be delivered. But with Mober’s service, the waiting time has been cut to less than 24 hours, with the purchased appliance delivered in a specific time frame.

As of October 2019, Mober’s on-demand logistics service is already available in 41 SM Appliance branches in the National Capital Region, with locations in urban provinces like Bulacan, Pampanga, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Legazpi and even Cebu.

Lyceum-Northwestern University, the first medical school established in the north, culminated the celebration of its 50th founding anniversary on 6 December 2019 at the CSI Stadia, Dagupan City.

The Grand Golden Jubilee and Alumni Homecoming is a milestone that celebrates the university’s humble beginnings, present victories, and future endeavors.

The university administration, faculty, staff, alumni and guests gathered to officially end the year-long celebration of L-NU’s golden year and open the next chapter of its existence. Vice President for Student Affairs and Alumni Relations head Dr. Eugene Reyes and University President, Dr. Luz T. Duque-Hammershaim welcomed everyone to L-NU’s golden year gala. Guest of honor to the gala night was Sen. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Tesoro Go who commended the university for its exceptional contribution to the immediate community of Dagupan, the outskirts of the city, the country and even globally.

Stellar performances from the university’s cultural and performing groups spiced up the grand event that was highlighted by the giving of recognition to the Outstanding Alumni whose contributions in various industries and notable private accomplishments continue to bring pride to L-NU.

Apart from recognizing the body of work and service that the outstanding alumni were conferred with, the event was meant to honor, give back, and express gratitude to the awardees for continuously upholding the values of integrity and excellence in their respective profession. Outstanding Jubilarians were given awards in the following fields: public service; allied health; academe; business and management; culture and Arts; and, (6) Humanitarian Service.

Officials of Pag-IBIG Fund launched on Thursday the Virtual Pag-IBIG, an online portal of the agency’s services making it available to members anytime, anywhere.

“The Virtual Pag-IBIG has been a long-term project of the Fund. Before launching, we made sure that support systems have been prepared and that the security of our database has been put in place. We are happy that our long-term plans to provide our members with a more efficient and accessible service have aligned with President Duterte’s call to make government service responsive to the needs of the public by harnessing technology. We were able to respond to the President’s directive immediately, because efficient and quality public service is at the heart of Pag-IBIG Fund,” said Secretary Eduardo del Rosario, who heads both the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) and the 11-member Pag-IBIG Fund Board of Trustees.

Del Rosario and Pag-IBIG Fund Chief Executive Officer Acmad Rizaldy Moti led the launch of the Virtual Pag-IBIG in an event held at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City. The Virtual Pag-IBIG can be accessed through the agency’s website and has been in beta version since October.

“Pag-IBIG Fund is celebrating its 39th anniversary this month with the theme ‘Serving the Nation with Excellence and Innovation.’ And what better way to mark our 39th year than with the unveiling of one of the most innovative services in our history, the Virtual Pag-IBIG. With this new service, it’s like having your own personal Pag-IBIG Fund branch at your fingertips. With just a smartphone and an internet connection, our members can now do their transactions with Pag-IBIG Fund online, anytime, wherever they are,” Moti said.

By logging into the Virtual Pag-IBIG, Moti said that one can immediately enjoy the agency’s services such as securing a Pag-IBIG Fund Membership ID number, taking the initial step to enroll for an MP2 Savings account and monitoring their loan application status.
