DPWH intensifies ‘Tisoy’ road clearing

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) on Tuesday said that road-clearing operations are underway on areas affected by typhoon “Tisoy.”

The DPWH reported that nine national roads in Cordillera Administrative Region and Region 2 are being cleared of debris and repaired as needed.

According to the DPWH, manpower and equipment are currently mobilized in CAR to clear six road sections rendered impassable due to road slip, soil slides, soil collapse, and bridge collapse along the municipalities of Balbalan and Tanudan in Kalinga; Tinoc, Ifugao; and Calansan, Apayao.

In Region 2, a portion of the Manila North Road along Sta. Praxedes, Cagayan, the Sanchez Mira Bridge, and the Cabagan-Sta. Maria Overflow Bridge in Isabela were closed to all types of vehicles due to mudflow and landslide damage.

Motorists going to Sanchez Mira, Cagayan are advised to take the Sanchez Mira Bypass Road, while motorists bound for Isabela may use Daang Maharlika via Tuguegarao City as an alternate

As per initial reports submitted by DPWH Regional Offices, partial cost of damage to roads, bridges, flood control, other public buildings is at P2.727-billion

Meanwhile, DPWH monitoring report dated 10 December disclosed that 48 of 57 road sections previously affected by the recent typhoon and continuous rains have been cleared and are now passableto all types of vehicles.
