Cash windfall for victorious Army shooters

President Duterte and Sen. Bong Go welcome the Philippine Army shooting team in Malacañang on Monday.

The Philippine Army shooting team brought home 20 medals from the 2019 ASEAN Armies Rifle Meet (AARM) in Indonesia.

Of the 20 medals from the 13-day shooting held 14 to 27 November, six were golds, seven silver, and seven bronze.

Cpl. Junever Antonio bagged gold in the Individual Rifle Match while T/Sgt. Angelo Bonagua claimed silver in the Individual Carbine Match event.

President Rodrigo Duterte rewarded each member with P500,000 cash and assured them of his continued support. Sen. Bong Go witnessed the courtesy call in Malacañang on Monday.

The annual rifle, pistol and machine gun competition pit the armies of 10 Southeast Asian countries– Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Singapore, Myanmar, Thailand, Brunei Darrusalam and Malaysia.

The Royal Brunei Land Forces will host the event next year.
