A Ceres bus fell from an elevated highway in Barangay Panalipan, Catmon in northern Cebu Sunday morning, leaving at least 20 passengers injured.

The ordinary bus carrying 28 passengers, including its driver, inspector and conductor, was headed for the North Bus Terminal in Mandaue City from Tabogon town when it fell and landed on the barangay’s shoreline.

Police Cpl. Orven Julius Montuerto of the Catmon Police Station said the injured were brought to the district hospital in Sogod for the treatment of bruises.

Among the injured passengers were two boys aged 4 and 11 years old.

The police are still determining the cause of the accident.

A blogger reporting at the scene quoted witnesses as saying that a front tire of the bus blew up causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
