SUBIC BAY FREEPORT—Melcah Jen Caballero took the gold medal in the lightweight single sculls women’s category of the 30th Southeast Asian Games rowing competition at the Acea Subic Bay hotel resort on Sunday.

Caballero clocked 7:50.89, beating Thailand’s Rojjana Raklao (7:54.23) and Mutiara Putri of Indonesia (7:56.85).

An emotional Caballero was greeted at the finish by her family and other relatives.
