Venus and Saturn will appear closest to each other after sunset on Tuesday, 10 December as the two make a rare planetary “conjunction.”

The phenomenon can be seen with the naked eye in the southwestern sky.

However, it is just a line-of-sight illusion based on the two planets’ position in the solar system.

In reality, Venus and Saturn are more than 800 million miles apart.
