Fil-Am shatters Lydia record

CAPAS CITY–Filipino-American sprinter Kristina Knott shattered the 33-year old record of Philippine athletics legend Lydia de Vega during the women’s 200-meter heat of the 30th Southeast Asian Games on Saturday at the New Clark City Athletic Stadium here.

Knott clocked 23.07 seconds to set a new SEA Games and Philippine record, erasing the 23.35 of De Vega recorded in 1986.

Knott will gun for the gold medal and a possible 2020 Tokyo Olympic slot this evening.

The qualifying time in the 200-m event for women is 22.80.
